I understand the difference between physical and psychological fidelity according to the RAND Corporation (Straus et al., 2019) framework used to evaluate military training effectiveness.
The thesis analysed commercial titles against real military and law enforcement operations, in order to find how through the psychological fidelity and consequential logic games can transfer tactical knowledge without intentional design.
With examples drawn from the modern Russian-Ukrainian conflict we find that simulation exposure through games translates into combat relevant skill outside any formal training context.
